i need some help

ok guys here’s my proposal. i need some help to get the creative juices flowing and return full time to this whole blogging thing, so i have an idea. each day i’ll take a topic and either make a comic out of it or write a minimum 12 line rhyme about it. at the beginning, i’ll give myself 2 days max to pump something out, but the plan is to get one out every day.

what i need from you guys are the topic/suggestions. i’m thinking in the form of one-word or one-sentence concept sort of thing. the first suggestion is gonna come from sexyarmo “bring it on homeboy!” (which probably means nothing to anybody except possibly for him and simon).

george, i swear to god, if you come back at me with chocolate milk, i’ll kidnap you when you come to town and drop you off at a hillary clinton support rally and free-love orgy where you’ll be converted to liberalism, pledge allegiance to howard dean style socialized medicine, offer to sell a kidney to fund the al gore “creater of the internet” memorial ziggurat and reflecting pool (to be placed at the capital mall), and join a union. AND YOU’LL LIKE IT!

blogging from work again. and yeah, it is saturday.

comics by bill: tooth story

i actually have a few posts in the works, but at the moment, i’m busy trying to finish up my graduate school application that’s due on friday.  in the meantime, here’s a comic by bill huang, a friend of mine from from racing and work.  i thought it was pretty funny.  there will probably be at least one more this week or next detailing his adventures trying to cut down the apple tree in his back yard.

i’m not the only one who does cartoons

seeing these kinda makes me want to start up again.

similar to the fiasco that was this post, i have tried to translate the funny into a comic. use u’re imagination. clearly i havent =D

AAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYEEE!!!

i have lots to talk about. i’ll have more tomorrow night =)

stickin it to “da man”. and by “da man” i mean the census bureau

i’m doing this in 2010.

actually follow this link.  it’s hillarious.  read the comments on the side.  its topical.

so, i think that we have established that i can’t draw.  i’ve had a few ideas for recurring comics, but i’m sticking on the character designs.  u know, u look at comics in the paper or online and think that that cartoony style is easy, but it’s actually pretty difficult to do consistently in one particular style.

somebody got me a clipboard at work, so now in group meetings that don’t demand my complete attention, i draw things on scratch paper.  i sometimes work on cartoons or draw really crappy sketches of cars or airplanes (yes, i’m still 12 years old), but about the only think i do relatively well is this dumb thing i started doing when i was a kid.

click
ignore the blob thingy.  that’s not a what i’m talking about.

“what the hell is this?” you may ask.  these are random doodles.  literally random.  what i do is, i take my eyes off the paper and move the pencil around in a series of random curves and eventually make it back to near where i started.  then i look for a face in the cooky shape i just created, like looking for shapes in clouds.  i usually start with eyes.  then i just kinda shade around the edges and VOILA!  a weird creature materializes.

i was thinking of putting one of these things up here per week.  they only take a few minutes to do and it’s easy filler.  that and a photo per week as well.  cut down on all the rampant text around here.  honestly, when i look at this site sometimes i marvel that you guys read all this stuff.  they dont look so long when i write them…

i just checked at the US census website.  i dont think they record data on religion.  suckers…

the coke machine

so, as promised, something resembling a comic.

25 years of intensive training in the visual arts result in… this!

i sketched this during a training session on lean manufacturing/kaizen/toyota production system, etc.  the chick teaching it has an awesome job.  boeing flies her all over the world, renting her out to airlines to as a consultant to apply lean priniciples to their maintenance operations.  after the class, she left for morocco for three weeks to work with royal air maroc and then went to schipol airport in amsterdam to work with KLM.  i would have stuck with the whole boeing lean zealot training if i knew jobs like that existed at the company.

incidentally, KLM is on my shitlist for denting my laptop and then refusing to compensate me for it.  fuckers.

who am i kidding?

i live in constant fear that somebody will actually read the garbage i post here and denounce me for the dumbass that i am.

i actally made this when i did the animated gif the other day, but didn’t want to post it right away…

i don’t actually feel this way of course.  that the world is full of assholes.  the analogy just came to me when i stopped to get some soda before the study session on monday and when i come up with an idea that could be even remotely construed as clever and original i cling to it with a death grip.

i need the validation.

testing testing

marcy still maintains that this joke isn’t funny…  watch for a running gag.

fzcking blog.com sidebar!!

u may have to check the comix album to see the whole thing

ok, so i promise this is the last time i will ever appear in a comic.  if one can really call this a comic,  considering i did no actual drawing.  and i blatantly stole copyrighted material.  god bless fair use!  actually, that pic of arnie is exactly the part of the movie when he says “i’ll be back.”

although… for those who i can impress with my faux-hip, psuedo-intellectual, obscure indy culture references, scott mccloud defines comics in his book Understanding Comics as sequential art, so i guess this qualifies.  although, once again, the one could question my assertion that this is art.

i ripped that picture of me pulling the pro-wrestling pose from one of our mid-semester presentations for our senior design project.  it was on the questions page.  here’s the actual image, but if your bored and want to see what mike, karl, sky and myself wasted two semesters of our time on, the website is still hosted at the school.  u can check it out here.  this one’s for u amanda!

i was a lot thinner back then.  dammit…
